How to Add Photos to a Digital Frame from Anywhere

Learn how to send photos to a digital picture frame from anywhere in the world.

One of the best things about WiFi digital frames is sending photos from miles away. You do not need to be in the same room or even the same country. Here is how remote photo sharing works with each major brand.

Through a Mobile App

Aura, Nixplay, and most other WiFi frames use a mobile app. Download the app on your phone, log in, and select photos from your camera roll. Tap send and the photos appear on the frame within a few minutes. You can do this from your couch or from a vacation on the other side of the world.

Most apps also let you invite family members. Each person downloads the app and gets access to send photos to the same frame. This way, everyone in the family can contribute photos from their own phone.

By Email

Skylight and Pix-Star frames each have their own email address. To send a photo, attach it to an email and send it to the frame's address. The frame downloads the photo and adds it to the slideshow. No app needed on the sender's end.

This is the simplest method for people who do not want to install apps. Anyone with an email account can send photos, including people with flip phones or computers.

Through Cloud Services

Some frames sync with cloud photo services. Aura connects to Google Photos and iCloud. Nixplay connects to Google Photos, Dropbox, Facebook, and Instagram. Pick an album in the cloud service and the frame pulls new photos automatically.

The advantage: you do not have to manually send each photo. Add a photo to your Google Photos album and it shows up on the frame within minutes. Set it once and forget it.

Tips for Remote Sharing

Make sure the frame stays connected to WiFi. If the WiFi goes down, the frame cannot receive new photos. Most frames store previously loaded photos locally, so the slideshow keeps running even without internet.

Send photos at a reasonable pace. Loading 500 photos at once can slow down the frame. Start with 20 to 50 and add more over time. The frame will cycle through them and mix in new ones as they arrive.
