Full Review

The Pix-Star 10-inch frame has been around for years. It may not look as sleek as an Aura or Skylight, but it packs in more features than both combined.

The standout feature is free cloud storage. No subscription, no annual fee. You get permanent cloud backup for all your photos. This alone sets Pix-Star apart from Nixplay and Skylight, which both charge for extra storage.

Like Skylight, Pix-Star lets you send photos by email. Each frame has its own email address. The app also connects to Google Photos, Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, and Dropbox. That is more photo sources than any other frame on this list.

The built-in extras are fun. There are simple games, an internet radio player, and a weather widget. These are not deal-makers, but they add value.

The downside is the screen. At 1024 by 768, the resolution is noticeably lower than newer frames. Photos look a bit soft, especially close up. Viewing angle is also narrower than IPS screens on pricier models.

The frame comes with a small remote control instead of a touchscreen or app-only control. It works fine, but it feels old-fashioned compared to the sleek app-controlled Aura frames.

At $130 with free storage and no subscription, the Pix-Star 10 is a great value. If you can live with the lower resolution, it delivers more features per dollar than any other frame.
