Best Digital Frames That Work with Google Photos
The best digital picture frames that sync with Google Photos for automatic photo updates.
If you store your photos in Google Photos, you want a frame that connects to it directly. The best Google Photos frames sync albums automatically. Add a photo to an album on your phone and it shows up on the frame. Here are the best options.
Aura Frames (Best Integration)
Aura has the tightest Google Photos integration. Through the Aura app, you pick Google Photos albums to sync. New photos added to those albums appear on the frame automatically. You can mix Google Photos albums with photos sent directly through the app.
The Carver and the Walden both support Google Photos. Combined with unlimited free storage, Aura is the top choice for Google Photos users.
Nixplay (Paid Plan Needed)
Nixplay can connect to Google Photos, but not on the free plan. You need Lite at $19.99 a year or Plus at $29.99 a year. Dropbox needs a paid plan too, and the free plan stops at 500 MB of storage.
Skylight (Not Listed)
Skylight does not list Google Photos for its frames, on the free plan or on its $39 a year Plus plan. Photos come by email or the Skylight app. If your photos live in Google Photos, pick another brand.
Pix-Star (Free Alternative)
Pix-Star connects to Google Photos through its web interface. The setup is less polished than Aura or Nixplay, but it works. And since Pix-Star includes free cloud storage, there are no extra costs.
Our Recommendation
For the best Google Photos experience, get an Aura frame. The integration is smooth, the screen is calibrated and easy on the eye, and storage is free. Nixplay can do it too, but only on a paid plan. Skylight does not list it. The Pix-Star 15 also syncs Google Photos with no plan, but no seller lists it on Amazon right now.
